The show opens with a chessey video package with a centurian putting on his battle armour they then go to some more serious and intense interviews with Randy Couture and Brock Lesnar. This is the first UFC PPV I've watched in a long long time, last time a saw Couture he was slapping the taste out of Tito Ortiz's mouth. They then go to a more traditional opening with fight clips.

Rogan and Goldberg run down tonights main event putting up the UFC's most beloved veteran and my choice for greatest of all time and the monster that is Brock Lesnar. They then hype the semi main event and Kenny Florian and Joe Stevenson which should be good. They then runs down some of the other heavyweights on the card.

Nate Quarry vs. Damian Maia

Pre Match Hype:
It looks like the battle between stand up and jui Jitsu. Quarry is making his way back from injury and it looks like this is both guys first serious fight. Maia is a two time Jiu-Jitsu world champion.

Round One: Maia throws a jab before they begin to wrestle and Maia gets a really nice indirrect takedown. Quarry tries to roll out but Maia superbly gains back control with the body scissors but Quarry blocks and avoids the choke for a minute while Maia pounds away and until he locks in the Rear Naked Choke for the win.

Well not much of a fight, Quarry's tactics were horrible, Maia jiu-jitsu skills are just amazing, Quarry did his best to last but Maia had this fight won effectively within fifteen seconds. (E+)

Rogan interviews Maia after the fight he says he has no real strategy he just does his thing. He's very humble he suggests that he'd like to fight Michael Bisping.

They hype the UFC 92 card which looks awesome I'll have to check that out. We then see Brock and Randy looking chilled backstage.

Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Josh Hendrix (Heavyweight)

Pre Match Hype:
Hendrix says this is two freight trains coming together but they hype makes Gonzaga look like a monster I can see them builing him as a challenger to Lesnar. I immediately warm to Gonzaga as his entrance music is "Mother" by Danzig great entrance music for fighter. Apparently Gonzaga has weak endurance and he lost to Couture after breaking Randy's arm earlier in the fight. You gotta love a fight sponsored by Condom depot.

Round One: Josh ducks under a wild swing and tries to wrestle. Gonzaga gets a right hand as Josh tries to wrestle. Gonzaga lights up Josh and hits a huge knee to the body that rocks Josh and that allows Gonzaga to just tee up a right hand and knock Hendrix silly. Hendrick is out on the floor but the ref doesn't throw it until Gonzaga throws another big right hand. Gonzaga wins by TKO in 61 seconds.

That was short and fun, Josh keep going in to wrestle but he was just walking into some very heavy hands, only a minute long but that was a great knock out. Scary thing is Gonzaga is a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu, would love to see this guy against Brock. (D)

They make mention that Brock Lesnar is a former WWE champion he's definitely a big heel in UFC.

Matt Brown vs. Ryan Thomas (Welter Weight)

Round One:
Thomas tries a big kick but gets caught with a serires of strikes and they battle for a takedown but Thomas gets on top and unloads with a quick flurry of shots. They work up to the clinch and work against the cage, Thomas fights him against the cage and unloads with some short arm jabs. You can tell this is a prelim fight. Brown responds with some knees but gets taken down again. Brown gets a Triangle but Thomas breaks it with two powerbombs but Brown works into an arm bar but Thomas rolls out and nearly gets stuck into arm bar and then another triangle but manages to escape. Brown looks to be in trouble buthe actually has a very aggresive guard. Brown uses a clever leg trip and gets the advantage but Thomas fights out and Brown gets a nice guillotine choke out of nowhere and as the buzzer goes Thomas looks close to getting another triangle. Good round I give that one to Brown.

Round Two: Brown avoids a kick and a takedown and both guys trade air shots. Thomas gets a takedown but Brown immediately gets an arm bar, Thomas tries to break it with a pair of powerbombs but Brown rolls through and locks the arm bar in properly for the submission victory.

That was a suprisingly good preliminary matches, I do hate the way they cut in pre taped matches. This match was really exciting with Brown being on the back foot but having such insane defensive skills good stuff. (D+)

Dustin Hazelett vs. Tamdan McCory (Welterweight)

Pre Match Hype:
McCory is coming back from taking a year off to finish his college degree. Hazelett considers McCory a stepping stone. Hazelett and McCory are both uncoventional and Hazelett is reknowned for his insane submission skills. Both guys look like crap.

Round One: Bizarely Tamden is a little bit taller but doesn't have the reach advantage. McCory unloads with an insane flurry but Dustin responds with a big front kick knocking over Tamdam but he can't quite connect with the flying knee strike. Both guys settle down and start feeling each other out after the insane start. Dustin catches Tamdan with two big straight right hands that rock McCory but he can't finish and Tamdan responds with a stiff leg kick. Dustin goes for a big strike but gets caught with a huge leg kick. Both men exchange leg kick, Tamdan dodges a round house kick and gets a takedown but Dustin goes to a rubber guard and he traps his opponent in an arm scissors. Tamdam rolls out but Dustin reapplies it immediately and eventually works it into a sick looking arm bar for the win.

Sorry for my ammatuer calling apparently that's called an armaplatu or something like that, that was another really good little match with alot of action and that was a sick submission. Another fun undercard match with a sick submission finish. (D+)

Dustin Hazelett says he wants to prove he's the best submission guy in the UFC.

Jeremy Stephens vs. Rafael Dos Anjos (Lightweight)

Round One:
Anjos gets a pair of leg kicks to start the match and avoids the combos and kicks of Jeremy. Anjos avoids he takedown adn they work in the clinch against the cage. Anjoys getsa lovely Waist lock takedown down and he tries to get position on the floor. Anjos drags Jeremy away from the cage and tries to work but gets stuck in a guillotine. That was loosely held on an Anjos pases his guard to a side mount and begins working around. These guys seem to be lacking in Jiu-Jitsu skills. Jeremy rolls through but ends up caught in arm scissors but not much comes off it and Steephens gets locked in a nasty position with his shoulder all over the place. Weak round.

Round Two: Stephens blocks a wild roundhouse kick, Stephens gets a leg kick and he leaps in with a knee to the gut. Stephens gets a leg kick but Anjos responds with a better kick. Anjos dodgess a kick and goes for a takedown but Stephens blocks and gets a nice double arm but Anjos spins out with incredible ease. Anjos peppers Stephens with some weak shots and gets back control. Anjos goes for an anaconda choke, Stephens escapes but Anjos goes for an arm bar but Stephens slips out and gets a top mount and Stephens shows off some impressive ground and pound. Anjos tries some pussy shots but Stephens explodes with some big elbow shots. Within the finally thirty seconds Stephens throws a couple of wild slugs. A better round but didn't set the world on fire, I give that round to slightly to Stephens probably a tie.

Round Three: Stephens gets a soft leg kick and blocks a high kick from Anjos and then massacres Anjos with a monsters right hand that knocks the holy hell out of Anjos and the referee stops it, WHAT A SHOT!!! Stephens then runs head first into the cage.

Well the first two rounds were tepid but intriguing but that monster knock out made this a good match over all. There was plenty going on but it never caught fire, its well worth seeing this fight for that uppercut that went right through Anjos's guard. (D)

50 Cent is in the crowd to pimp his album and to generally be very inarticulate. Fiddy thinks that Brock will win tonight and Joe says "buy it, don't download it bitches".

We then go to the semi main event and the hype apparently Florien is the heavy internet favorite. Stephenson says he's going to prove everybody wrong.

Joe Stevenson vs. Kenny Florian (Lightweight)

Round One:
Florian gets a leg kick and then connects with a straght right hand, Joe blocks a kick but gets caught with a knee. Joe press Kenny chasing him around the octogon with some heavy hands. Joe gets a clinch and tries to roll into a takedown but its blocked. Joe goes for a big takedown but Kenny grabs the cage to avoid it, both men then wrestle to their feet. Kenny catches Joe with a jab but Joe tries to close, Joe blocks a big kick and pushes Kenny back against the cage but Florian gets a big leg trip and takedown. Kenny misses a straight right and gets a full mount and unloads. Joe has to give up back control and Florian gets the rear naked choke for the win.

Good short fight, was really intriguing, its a shame it only went one round because this was a really nice match up. Florian skills on the ground we're just awesome to get the sudden decisive win. (D+)

Kenny Florian then tells BJ Penn he's coming after his world title. We then see Ricky Hatton sitting at ringside watching the show. There is so much sponsorship on this show its sickening.

UFC Heavyweight Title Match
Randy Couture vs. Brock Lesnar

Pre Fight Hype:
They put it over as legend with bucket loads of experience vs. Super Freak monster. The text vote gives it to Couture 54% to Brock's 46%. Randy Couture is 45 and is undoubtably my favorite of all time but its great to see Brock doing so well. Randy says Lesnar reminds him of himself ten years ago. Brock says he's gonna show that he's ten years too old to be here. Brock Lesnar says its easy for him to beat Randy Couture but Randy says he'll be ready. Brock Lesnar comes to the ring to "Enter Sandman", Joe Rogan describes Lesnar as the last level boss on a video game. Even though i know the result I can't wait to see this match up. Randy is out classed in height, power and speed. They boo the hell out of Brock during his introduction.

Round One: The crowd chant for "Randy", They go right into the clinch and Brock gets a couple of knees. Another monster "Randy" chant, Lesnar continues to lay in the knees and drags Lesnar around the cage. Rany powers out and explodes with a right hand. Brock tries some combos but doesn't land. Brock attempts a lightening takedown but Couture blocks it and the crowd chant for Randy but it doesn't stop Brock from getting a big takedown. Brock nearly gets a mount but Randy wriggles out and goes for a back mount and the crowd go mental but Brock gets a leg trip and falls on top. Randy's defence looks good but Brock manages to power out and throw some big slugs into the face of Randy who has to scramble. Randy makes it to his feet and thats accompanied by a big pop. Randy gets a knee and Brock loocks knackered. the crowd boo Brock who keeps holding the fence. Randy tries to power Lesnar up with a takedown but he can't quite get it. Really good first round classic wrestling battle.

Round Two: The crowd chant for Randy while they do the corner work. Brock lands a jab but can't follow up as Randy ducks and weaves but Randy can't dodge a monster elbow strike and Brock charges but Randy cleverly works Randy against the cage. Randy gives Brock a knee but Brock responds with a big knee and Randy responds with a big right hand. Brock misses an elbow and another shot opens Brock up above the right eye. Randy gets a right but he walks into a hook. Randy is working really hard to get a takedown but Brock doesn't look to be going anywhere. Brock hits a big knee but didn't catch him plum. Brock does catch a what looked like a huge right hand and Brock just unmercifully unloads with a never ending series of elbows and punches until the referee has to stop it.

Well the crowd didn't like that, impressive showing from Brock but Randy can be very proud of himself this wasn't embarsing in anyway. That was a hell of a straight right hand catching Randy plum on the temple and it was curtains from there a good satifsying heavyweight main event. Would liked to have seen another round, good stuff. (C+)

Brock was very respectful after the fight, as was Randy, he felt comfortable but "that's just big son of bitch". Randy says he still feels like he's getting better as a fighter so he might continue. He says he didn't feel rusty he just got caught with a big shot. Brock poses with a very pregnant looking sable.

They go to two more fights from earlier in the night but I'll call it a day there as I've got a hell of a lot of shows to catch up on before the live PPV later this month.

Overall Thoughts: Good show tonight, there was no fight to go out of your way to see but there wasn't a stinker on the show. We saw a couple of sick submissions, a stunning uppercut knock out from Jeremy Stephens, and a really good satisfying main event with a big fight feel. (7/10)
