.
Tony Schiavonie is on commentary, its just surreal seeing him on a WWE show, he's terrible of course but its great to see Jesse back on commentar. We go to a pretty good opening video package although they mix in clips of cheesy summer time activity which is just bizzare.

.
Well that was dissapointing, The Brainbusters really showed arse and played the heel roll really well, but Bret was horrible on offence in the early going and slowed the match to a crawl. The match really picked up toward the end with some good double team work but it never really clicked, which is a real shame as they gave it time. Fine but underwhelming opener. (**1/4)
.
Dusty Rhodes cuts a very silly but very fun promo on Honky Tonk man apparently he's going to beat his booty.
.
Dusty Rhodes vs. The Honky Tonk Man

Dusty misses a blind charge and Honky throws Dusty hard into the referee, ouch poor referee. Honky holds Dusty back and Jimmy Hart comes to the ring with the guitar but nails Honky by mistake. Dusty then hits the Elbow drop of Doom for the 1-2-3.
.
Well that started out as a fun little match but went horribly when Honky decided to slap on a five minute chinlock, this is what happens when two of the laziest workers in history come together. Still they hit the right spots and entertained the fans. (3/4*)
.
We then have a promo with Demolition and Duggan and they cut a very stupid shouty promo.
.
Mr. Perfect vs. Red Rooster
.
Both men get in each others face and exchange shoves, the Rooster won't back down until Curt hits a arm drag and a hip toss before mocking the Rooster. Perfect then scores with a fireman's carry, Perfect makes fun of the Rooster but Terry hits him with a huge bitch slap. They do a quick leap frog exchange, Rooster slips out of a body slam but when Rooster tries one of his own Perfect falls on top for a near fall. Perfect then hits a nice standing dropkick sending the Rooster to the outside. Both men brawl on the outside and Perfect unloads with some big rights, when they return to the ring Mr. Perfect hits the Perfect plex for the 1-2-3.
.
Fun little squash, Curt really looked like a star here. (1/2*)
.
.

HOT TAG! Shawn Michaels is in and he's on fire. He hits a big back body drop on Martel and plays to the crowd, HBK follows that up with a dropkick and Shawn counters a back body drop with a brilliant suplex and HBK heads up top with a flying fist drop. Marty tags in and Shawn press slam Marty ontop of Martel. Jock tries to break it up but Marty rolls out the way and his elbow drop hits Martel. The faces then whip all three heels into one another in a great spot. Marte is staggering in the middle of the ring and Tito hits the flying forearm and Martel goes flying to the outside. Jimmy Hart distracts Marty Jannetty, Jock gets a roll up but Marty reverse it and has the cover on Jock but Martel sneaks in and clobbers Marty with a right hand for a win.
.
That was a really good fun six man tag, there was very long extended beat down on Tito but the heels varied the offence and didn't rely on restholds so the match was never dull. There were some very nice sequences in this match and great crowd heat throughout. I'd like to have seen the Rockers in the ring for a longer period but it didn't matter. The match was a nice bringing together of two feuds, good lower card match. (***)
.
.
We then go to a nice video package showing us the near year long Warrior-Rude feud. We then get an insaenly ridiculous Ultimate Warrior promo.
.

.
Warrior follows up with a running powerslam and the Warrior splash but Rude gets his knees up and the Warrior is really selling well by his standards. Rude is knackered but pulls Warrior to his feet and he hits a brutal reverse Tombstone piledriver for a 2.99999 count, the crowd can't believe it. Warrior gives Rude a brilliant German suplex off the second rope and then hits the flying shoulder tackle. The Warrior does his crazy dance and hits the Gorrilla Press and big splash for the 1-2-3.
.
That was a brilliant match. For all of his failings you could see why the WWE got behind the Warrior when he put on matches of this quality. Granted this match was carried by Rude and incredibly well plotted out. The drama was excellent with the ref bumps and the brutal offence and great nearfalls. They delved into bag of tricks and pulled out a great match. (***3/4)
.
.
Tom Mooney is in the crowd with the fans and they are going absolutely nuts fo Warriors title win its a really nice touch. We then go to some decent promos from Piper and Hennig. Rugged Ronnie Garvin is dresed in a tuxedo and says he has a special assignment tonight, Heenan charges in with Rude and he's absolutely shocked that Piper came out during their match. Rude says he doesn't care if he has to go through Piper or Warrior he will get his title back right now. Bobby Heenan was absolutely superb in this promo.

Akeem hits the second rope big splash on Smash but while the referee is distracted and Duggan clobbers Akeem in the back with the 2x4 and Smash crawls on top for the 1-2-3.
.
That was what it was, a chaotic brawl that kept the fans energy levels up, nothing to write home about. (3/4*)
.
.
Ted Dibiase is up next and he's with Virgil, Ted calls Snuka a primitive native who eats Coconuts and bananas while Ted dines out of caviar and champagne.
.
.
Hercules vs. Greg Valentine
.
Hercules unloads on Valentine to start the match before scoring with a reverse elbow for a two count. Hercules hits a spinning body slam for a two count and Greg Valentine bails to the outside. Valentine is distracted by Garvin and Hercules gets a sneaky roll up for a two count. They then brawl around ringside, when they return to the ring Valentine drops a series of elbows before going for the figure four but its blocked by Hercules. The Hammer comes off top but is met with a gut punch. The Hammer counters a back body drop with a back club. Hercules then scores with a nice hanging suplex. Horrible with no redeeming features. (DUD)
.
Post match we get some interaction with Garvin and Valentine but it doesn't make up for a terrible match.
.
Gene Okerland is backstage with the Sensational Sherri, Randy Savage and Zeus. Sherri has a couldron and apparently it will help them destroy Hogan and Beefcake, apparently she can see the future and they can she Hogan and Beefcake lying on their back. Ted works over Snuka in the corner before hitting a suplex and laying some knees in to the back. Snuka goes up top and calls for the Superfly put gets distracted by Virgil and they brawl to the outside. Ted throws Snuka head first into ringpost and rolls back into the ring and wins the match by count out.
.
Post Match: Superfly comes off the top rope with a flying headbutt and he gets a double karate chop on Virgil. Snuka then hits Virgil with the back breaker and heads to the top rope and hits the Superfly Splash a very good one.
.
Well Ted sold well but Snuka was very sloppy, the post match was very good and made up for the dissapointing finish. Fine for what it was, everything from now on in seems to be a buffer between the Warrior match and the Hogan match. (3/4*)
.
.
The Mega Maniacs are backstage and Hogan is posing before coming into one of his classic promos. Apparently the Mega Maniacs have been hanging and banging and riding there motorcycles. Hogan claims to have god like powers to part water. Beefcake cuts a ridiculous promo claiming that his blades are made out of titanium. Why is an evil barber a face? Wait I know he's one of Hogan's best mates.
.
We then go to a video package detailing the feud, yes the one based on Hogan's movie no holds bar coming to life. Zeus's offence is possible the least credible in history. His promos are some how even worse.
.
The Mega Maniacs (w/Senastional Sherri) vs. Randy Savage & Zeus (w/Miss Elizabeth)
.
Beefcake throws Savage over the top rope leaving Zeus in the ring. Hogan offence doesn't hurt Zeus, an eye rake works but Hogan can't slam Zeus. .
Zeus hits a big boot and then gets a cartoony choke on the top rope, Zeus locks in a blatant choke and Earl Hebner has to pull Zeus off Beefcake. Zeus then takes Beefcake to the corner and locks in a choke on Beefcake. Zeus then drops Zeus throat first on the top rope. Savage tags in and Beefcake dodges a closeline leading to a collision spot.
.
HOT TAG! Hogan comes in and he's on fire and unloads with the big rights. Hogan gets a corner closeline and the big boot but Savage bumps to the outside, Hogan suplexes Savage from the apron but Savage falls ontop for a near fall. Savage gets a closeline and the Picture Perfect Elbow drop, Hogan Hulks up to the shock of the crowd and cleans houses. Beefcake shoves Savage off top and Hogan hits Zeus with the loaded purse and hits the big body slam that only leaves the Leg Drop of Doom and its over.
.
Fun main event, Zeus was pretty terrible but his roll well putting Hogan in jepodary and the crowd bough into it big time. Not a classic by any stretch of the imagination but a fun feel good Hogan main event. (**)
.
Post Match: Hogan, Brutus and Liz give Sherri a hair cut and then the big posedownathon begins.
.
Overall Thoughts: Much better than the first Summerslam, had its slow spots but was a really good fun event with a good flow to it. Most of the action was of a good PPV quality, the main event delivered exactly what it promised, The Rockers match was a great undercard effort with good athleticism and the Warrior-Rude showdown stole the show with a near four star encounter that's well worth a watch. Rude something about Rude and Warrior clicked perfect to create epic matches, its a shame that the WWE was soon to discover outside of Rude and Hogan there weren't many other micarcle workers on the WWE main event roster. Good Event that delivered exactly what it promised. (7/10)
