Daveportivo's Cultural Evaluation Facility

Music, Politics, Flim, Books and TV all shall be reviewed within.

We start with a long shot of New York City and a very excited Gorrilla Monsoon, we then go to a very cheesey but kind of cool opening graphic with all the wrestlers posing with eighties music in the back ground. Billy Graham is on commentary! They blow the timings as you here the crowd doing the the countdown to going live while we are already on the air.

The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers vs. The British Bulldogs

The Bulldogs refuse the handshake to start the matcha and stare down the Rougeaus. Davey unloads with a series of head pounds on Joch drawing and oversell. Joch tags out and hugs Raymond as they regain there cool. Raymond nails Davey with a huge cheap shot, Raymond tries a monkey flip but Davey lands on his feet and scores with a arm drag. Dynamite tags in and they hit a double head butt before Dynamite scores with a big shoulder tackle and an arm drag. Dynamite sees a monkey flip coming and drops a headbutt before going back to the arm drag and arm bar.

Davey tags in and comes off top with a flying axehandle, he follows up by countering a back body drop into a sunset flip for a two count. Dynamite tags in and scores with a brutal closeline before tagging Davey back in, Raymond and Davey do a very nice pinfall exchange. Dynamite tags back in and works over the arm of Raymond. The British Bulldogs nail a double shoulder tackle for a two count. Davey tries to run the ropes but Jock trips him from the outside and Davey sells that really nicely.

Raymond manages to tag out and Jock goes straight to work on the leg of Davey with a series of stomps before slapping on a toe hold and then a single leg death lock before stomping down hard on the back of Davey's leg. Raymond tags in and they hit the wishbone splitter, Jock tags in and he jumps down hard onto Davey's leg, Jock locks in another toe hold before giving Dynamite a cheap shot. Raymond enters the ring illegally while the referee is distracted and they hit a wishbone splitter. Davey tries to fight back but runs straight into a back body drop. Jock tags back in and locks in a step over toe hold but Davey counters to an inside craddle for a near fall. Raymond tags in but Davey counters his leg lock into a monkey flip.

HOT TAG! Dynamite hits a snap suplex and series of head butts before getting a two count. Dynamite hits a back suplex but Raymond gets his foot on the ropes at two. Davey and Jock brawl at ringside before Davey introduces Raymond to the guard rail. Jock has to roll Raymond back into the ring. Dynamite tags Davey back in and the Bulldogs play ping pong with Raymond. Davey then hits a big running powerslam but Jock makes the save.

Dynamite tags in and goes for a ten punch but Jock sneaks in and gives him a big back suplex and both Raymond and Dynamite are down. Jock tags in and lays in some axe handles and then a body slam and a nice knee drop gets a two count. Raymond tags back in and works over Dynamite in the corner and Raymond front slams Dynamite onto Jock's knee in a gut buster motion. Jock tags in and locks in an abdominal stretch and wedgie combination. Davey breaks the hold but Raymond tags in and locks in an abdominal stretch of his own.

Jock tags in and scores with a big splash for a near fall before slapping on a camel clutch. Dynamite powers up but Raymond sneaks into the ring and slugs Dynamite in the face to knock him back down into the camel clutch. The crowd come to life but the beatdown continues as Raymond gets a snapmare and a he locks on a camel clutch of his own. Dynamite powers up and manages to break the hold in the corner. Jock tags in and knocks Davey off the apron, the ref is distracted as Dynamite counters a body slam into an inside craddle.

Jock has Dynamite in a abdominal stretch and Raymond comes in and plays to the crowd before hitting a spinning back kick. Raymond locks in a front facelock, Dynamite powers out and gets the tag but the referee doesn't see it. Dynamite kicks out of a unique pin at two and then kills Raymond and gets the HOT TAG.

Davey comes in but Raymond avoids a dropkick and Davey crashes and burns. The crowd can't believe that, Davey then gets a gorrilla press and drops Jock crotches him on the top rope. Dynamite comes in and they give the Rougeaus a noggin knocker, Davey Boy Smith then press slams Dynamite Kid into a headbutt on Jock. Dynamite gets the cover but the bell rings and the decision is a time limit draw.

Well the crowd hated that finish. That was a dissapointment, there was some good action but the majority of match consisted of rest holds from the Raymond and Jock, the finish didn't help. Not bad just dissapointing. (**1/4)

Gorrilla then tells us that Brutus Beefcake is injured and can't make the show and they roll the footage of Ron Bass and we see Censored footage of Bass cutting Beefcakes head wide open with a spur. Brutus cannot make the IC title match tonight but Gorrilla says that Honky Tonk Man wil defend his title we just don't know who against yet.

Bad News Brown vs. Ken Pantera

Brown unloads on Ken during the entrance and then hits a big body slam before dropping and elbow. Brown charges adn Ken hits one of the worst closelines I've ever seen. Pantera scores with a big reverse elbow. Ken the follows up with a body slam but misses the elbow drop. Brown continues to unload on Pantera and chokes him in the ropes. Brown then hits a hammer blow on the ropes before giving Ken a head pound in the corner. Ken's selling is just so silly and horrible and he does cartoon sells off of all of Brown's lame offence. Pantera kicks Brown over and unloads with some weak rights before getting a horrible wrestling takedown and a then an even worse closeline before dropping an elbow for two. Pantera then hits a horrid back breaker and a mind bogglingly awful small package gets two. Then just in case this match wasn't sucking enough dick in this match he locks on a bear hug on a heel? Brown breaks the hold with a head butt and Pantera sells like he's blind. Pantera can't locks on the full nelson but Brown makes the ropes. He tries again with the same result.

Pantera unloads in the corner and both men look gassed. Brown slugs Ken in the back and both men are down. Pantera is up first with some awful offence THEY BOTH AN IRISH WHIP!!!! Ken then runs shoulder first into the ring post and mercifully Bad News Brown ends it with the Ghetto Blaster.

That was just horrible, Brown was poor but he wasn't that awful, Pantera is one of the worst wrestlers I've ever seen in my life, I think Mick Foley trained to be a wrestler at the same time as this guy. Horrible match, horrible start to the show. (-*1/2)

Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage are backstage with Elizabeth and Hogan says that the Mega Powers are the most powerful power in the entire universe, this is patternted Hogan rantomania. Randy is up next and he's never felt so much electricity before, the Madness and the Mania together. Elizabeth is apparently the secret weapon, the last thing the Mega Bucks will see is the iss of death. What are they gonna do when the Mega powers come runnng through. Well that was about as silly as you'd expect.

Ravishing Rick Rude vs. The Junk Yard Dog

Rude jumps JYD during the entrance but Dog meets him with a back body drop and JYD follows up with the doggy style headbutts sending Rick to outside while JYD plays to the crowd. JYD pulls Rude back into the ring by the hair. JYD dodges a closeline and hits a punch to the gut. JYD misses a headbutt and Rude scores with a closeline and a flying axe handle off the top rope. The crowd start a big "JYD" chant as Rude hits a series of head pounds and elbow drops.

Rude unloads with a series of shots and JYD tries to no sell but Rude quickly gets a snapmare and a chinlock. Rude then changes up to a blatant choke while the referee is distracted before returning to chinlock. The crowd start a "Weasel" chant. JYD powers up and elbows his way out of the chinlock. JYD runs straight into a boot and Rude drops and elbow before getting a near fall. Rude then reapplies the chinlock before working over the arm with an arm wringer and playing to the crowd.

JYD counters an arm breaker with a low blow and JYD unloads with a big big head butt Rude sells it excellently, Heenan distracts JYD allowing Rude to hits the side Russian leg sweep and then he goes up top pulls down his trousers revealing a Sheryl Roberts face on them, and Jake the Snake runs in and kicks the shit out of Rude and then closelines him over the top rope.

Well that was totally meh. (1/2*)

Honky Tonk Man is backstage with Jimmy Hart. Jimmy Hart says Honky is the greatest wrestler of all time. Honky Tonk says being the greatest humanitarian of all time he'll open up the title to all challengers. Gene tries to reveal who the challenger is but Honky says he doesn't care who it is, Honky likes suprises and he says he can give anyone on the entire roster the Shake Ratte and Roll.

The Bolsheviks vs. The Powers Of Pain

We start with a wild brawl with all four men. Barbarian scores with a verse elbow on Boris but Nickolai trips the Barbarian from the outside, Barbarian dodges and elbow drop and the powers of pain score with a double shouldertackle. Barbarian then kills Volkoff with a karate throat thrust and the Bolsheviks bail. Boris tries a shoulder tackle but it has no effect on Barbarian who hits a closeline. Barbarian and Boris BOTCH A BACK BODY DROP SPOT COMPLETELY.

Warlord tags in and scores with a fist drop, Warlord scores with a suprisingly immpresive side belly to belly suplex. Nikolai tags in and unloads on the throat of Warlord. Nickolai continues with the unispired offence, Boris tags in and he throws such exciting moves as the kick to the gut and the choke, I can smell five stars. The crowd is deader than Zed. Nikolai tags in and scores with a headbutt to the gut. Boris scores with a jaw jacker before tagging in. Boris gets a snapmare and he applies a chinlock.

Warlord slugs down Nickolai but Nick responds with THE WORST SPINNING HELL KICK IN HUMAN HISTORY. Warlord gets a double back pound, Barbarian tags in and cleans house with closelines, body drops and a couple of meaty big boots, Nickolai bumps over the top rope. The Warlord tags in and they hit the double flying shoulder tackle. The Powers of Pain the finish it off with a running powerslam diving headbutt combo for the 1-2-3.

You just can't do anything with Warlord, the guy didn't take a single bump, Nickolai was horrible on offence but tooks some really impressive bumps. Better than expected but still pretty terrible. That botched back body drop was a sight to behold. (1/2*)

Brother Love comes to the ring to a big round of boos. He loves us of course, and of course tonight is a very special night, not only because Brother Love is here but because the WWE promised Brother Love a very special guest. Love says the only thing that makes this guest special is that he is brother love's guest. Apparently this person is someone who needs to learn a lesson in love. The guest is brother Hacksaw Jim Duggan, oh christ. Duggan is here for reasons two reasons, one to say "HOOOOOOO" and the other is to call Duggan a phoney. Love says he looks at Duggan and sees a man wo has no love in his heart. Duggan just acts demented throughout this whole segment. Brother Love says Dino Bravo loves his country, Brother Love says that Duggan doesn't love his country, Duggan says that Dino Bravo isn't loved in Canada. Apparently Duggan has shown love for his country. Love says Duggan carries a weapon like a coward, Duggan says this is the WWE its not Sunday school, Love says he doesn't see a badge, Duggan says if Love doesn't back up he'll shove the 2x4 where the sun doesn't shine. Duggan counts to five Brother love is actually quite funny before he runs away. Well that was insanely embarsing but pretty damn funny in retrospect, I can't believe people watched this instead of Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat.

WWE Intercontinental Title

The Ultimate Warrior vs. Honky Tonk Man

In the iconic moment, Warrior charges the ring and kicks the crap out of Honky hits and body slam, a flying shoulder tackle and he's completely spazzing out he hits a horrible closeline and the big splash gets the 1-2-3.

Well a very famous moment in wrestling history and probably the most memorable moment on this show. The Warrior picks up his first title and starts the road to Wrestlemania V. Let us not forget this was also the end of the longest intercontinental title reign in history. Amazingly even in thiry seconds Warrior manage to show off how horrible he was in the ring. Incredibly short but very memorable. (3/4*)

Don Muraco vs. Dino Bravo

Don and Dino lock up and Bravo is throw into the corner, they lock up again and Don scores with a shoulder tackle, Dino goes for a Monkey flip but Don blocks it with a stomp. Don hits a body slam and a pair of arm drags and Dino has to bail. Don gets an arm wrench but Dino breaks it in the corner and unloads but Dino returns fire with a hip toss, an awful monkey flip and an even worse arm drag into an arm bar. The crowd entertain themselves by starting a "USA" chant. Muraco and Dino exchange Irish whips.

Dino scores with a chop and then a very nice inverted atomic drop before playing to the crowd like a goof. Dino goes for a back body drop but Dino counters into a nice side Russian legsweep. Don scores with a back body drop and plays to the crowd, Don knocks Frenchie off the apron, Don goes for the Tombstone but the ref gets bumped that allows Dino Bravo to float over and hit the side walk slam for the win.

Oh geez with was bad but not as bad as some of what preceeded it. (3/4*)

Jesse Ventura is asked by Mooney if he's accepted money by Ted Dibiase to be a crooked referee, Jesse says he's not a fool if someone puts money in his pocket he's gonna take it, it doesn't mean he's bent.

WWE World Tag Team Title

The Heart Foundation vs. Demolition

Axe shoves Bret cockily to start the match before unloading with a series of axe handle blows, Axe then hits a body slam and misses an elbow drop. Bret unloads with a series of punches and a gut punch sets up a nice roll up for a near fall. Bret gives Smash an arm drag before Niedhart tags in, Jim scores with a big shoulder tackle and unloads. Jim scores with another big shoulder tackle but he's cut off with a knee to back by Axe.

Axe tags in and continues to drop a series of axe handles, Smash tags back in and unloads with a series of axe handle smashes. Smash tags back in and goes for a back body drop but Jim counters with an uppercut and Bret tags in. Bret unloads with a flurry of gut punches and a nice dropkick on Smash. Smash regains control throwing Bret into the ringpost and Bret takes a brutal shoulder first bump. Demolition tie Bret's arm in the rope and work it over with a series of clubbing blows.

Axe hammerlocks Bret's arm and runs him shoulder first into the turnbuckles. Smash tags in and scores with a shoulderbreaker before locking in a step over arm bar. Smash tags back in and stands on Bret's arm. Axe gives Bret an arm breaker over the top rope. Smash then takes Bret to the outside and throws Bret shoulder first into the ringpost. Axe tags in after a very long period of standing around, Bret manages to dodge a closeline and hits a diving closeline of his own. Bret makes the tag but the referee didn't see it and Demolition continue to work over Bret. Smash then charge full pace into Bret's boot.

HOT TAG! Anvil unloads with a pair of dropkicks, then two body slams, Anvil then gives Demolition a meeting of the minds and then he closelines Smash to the outside. The crowd are going bananas as Bret sling shots Anvil over the top rope into a plancha on Smash. Anvil hits a powerslam for a very near fall and the crowd really thought that was it. Bret then Irish whips Anivl into Smashes gut for a near fall, the crowd are into this match huge. Bret scores with a back breaker but Axe makes the save, Anvil beats the crap out of Smash and then Anvil knocks Fuji off the apron and while the ref is distracted Bret goes for a piledriver but Smash hits Bret with the megaphone and Axe falls on top for the winning pinfall.

Well the screwy finishw was a dissapointment but the match really got going towards the end and the crowd wre really into the Hart Foundation big time. Solid tag match. (**1/2)

Honky Tonk is going nuts backstage in the dressing room and he promises that he will win his title back, he said he'd wrestle any man but not a Warrior.

Koko B. Ware vs. The Big Bossman

Big Bossman jumps Koko while he's distracted and then tosses him to the outside like a bitch. Koko unloads before scoring with a dropkick that ends with Bossman tied in the top rope. Koko plays to the crowd before hitting a flying headbutt and pounding the crap out of Bossman on the ropes. Bossman manages to catch Koko and clubs him down before hitting a jumping headbutt. Big Bossman hits an avalanche in the corner before getting in the crowd's face. Bossman lays the boots into Koko before hitting a closeline on Koko, Big Bossman has the pin but pulls Koko up just before the three count.

Bossman the locks Koko in a surfboard, Koko flips and kicks Bossman off to counter. Bossman recovers and hits a brutal rope rider Bossman then slugs Koko down with a big right hand. Bossman hits a big body slam and goes to the top rope and plays to crowd, Bossman goes for the Big Splash but Koko rolls out the way. Bossman then goes for a Stinger splash but Koko moves and Bossman crotches himself.

Koko dances and prances and unloads with a series of jabs before hitting a missile dropkick that draws a huge pop and a big splash gets a near fall. Bossman powers Koko over the top rope and then brings Koko back into the ring and finishes him off with the Boss Man Slam sucking the life out of the crowd.

That was fine a fun little undercard match, with some good movement created by both men, shame the card wasn't full of more matches like this. (*)

Warrior is backstage celebrating and he cuts a crazy promo about spaceships and thunder and messages from the Warrior spirits. Warriors says if anyone wants to face him he won't be hard to find "I'll be on the next space ship to Parts Unkown". Another classic Warrior promo.

Hercules vs. Jake the Snake Roberts

Hercules misses a sneak attack and Jake explodes with a flurry of punches before running straight into a big boot. Jake counters a back body drop with a knee lift and Jake signals for the DDT but Herc bails and gets his head together on the outside. Jake blocks six of Herc's punches before playing to the crowd and scoring with a nice body slam. Jake applies a headlock and Hercules can't escape even a back suplex doesn't break the hold. Hercules has to make the ropes to escape the hold.

Hercules hits Jake with a low headbutt to gain control and he follows it up with a big right hand and an elbow drop. Hercules then gives the Snake a hairmare before slapping on a chinlock. The crowd come to life as Jake gets two his feet but Hercules kills Jake with two huge closelines but Hercules only gets two with a cocky pin. Hercules then reapplies the chinlock to the thrill of absolutely no one except a young Randy Orton watching at home. I don't think even Orton would dare hold a chinlock on for this long.

Jake finally fights up, its about damn time, Jake gets to his feet and elbows his way out but is then killed with a back elbow that sends Jake crashing to the outside. Hercules unloads with a big right on the apron and then hits a hammer blow. Jake then counters a second hammer strike dragging Hercules over the top rope. Hercules manages to fight back with a jaw jacker and then he goes back to the centre of the ring and reapplies the chinlock but thankfully Jake counters with jaw breaker.

Jake unloads with a flurry of jabs and a big right sends Herc down, Jake then hits a short arm closeline and then plays to the crowd. Hercules manages to counter the DDT with a big release Northern lights suplex, Jake goes for a new lift but Herc sweeps his legs and Jake crashes and burns. Hercules then hits a body slam and an elbow drop for a two count. Snake then floats over a body slam and scores with a nice DDT for the 1-2-3.

If you like Chinlocks well your gonna love this match. It wasn't too bad overall and the finish was a nice touch but the good moments were out weighed by too much half arsed action. (*1/4)

We then go to a video package on the feud between the Mega Bucks and the Mega Powers.

Mega Bucks vs. Mega Powers

Special Referee: Jesse Ventura

Well this match has to carry the show. Jesse tells the managers to get of the ring and Jesse then changes which corners the tag ropes are in, very bizarre, Jesse tells Hogan to shut up in the process. Hogan and Savage argue over who should start the match. Andre beats the crap out of Savage in the corner before Ted tags in. Ted says he wants Hogan not Savage, Savage plays to the crowd before tagging in Hogan. Hogan tags in, Ted gets an eye rake but Hogan blocks a closeline and scores with a atomic drop and the Mega Powers play ping pong with Ted before Hogan hits the axe bomber closeline.

The Mega Powers hit a double back elbow as Jesse gets in Hogan's face, Hogan rakes the eyes and gives Ted head pounds on different sides of the ring. Savage tags in and scores with a bombs away double axe handle before hitting a nice knee drop. Hogan tags in and scores with a big boot before dropping three elbows. Andre has had enough and gives Hogan and Savage a pair of head butts. Jesse gets in Elizabeth's face and tells her to get off the apron.

Andre tags in and sits on Hogan and then stands on his faces. The crowd start a big "Hogan" chant. Andre then locks in the dreaded DOUBLE NERVE PINCH. Jesse tells Savage to stay out of the ring as Hogan fades in the double nerve pinch. Andre switches up and applies a slepper. Ted runs in and hits a boot to the gut. Ted tags in and scores with a closeline which gets a two count. Dibiase then scores with a series for fist drops for a two count before locking Hogan in a chinlock. Hogan tries to power up but he fades again. Ted works the hold better than anyone else tonight but a chinlock is still a chinlock. Hogan powers out and elbows out of the hold dodges a closeline and goes to a collision spot.

HOT TAG! Savage unloads with a series of rights before hitting a reverse elbow and a back body drop. Savage then hits his famous Jaw Jacker which Ted sells superply. Randy then comes off top with the flying axe handle before misses a blind charge. Savage dodges a closeline before hitting a cross body for a two count, Savage runs the ropes again but this time Ted cuts him off with a closeline and makes the tag to Andre

Andre comes in and works over Savage in the corner with the arse thump of doom before sitting on Savage's face. Andre then hits a big head butt before tagging Ted back into the ring. Ted scores with a really nice suplex and that gets a nearfall. Ted follows up with a back breaker and then goes for a second rope elbow drop but Savage rolls out the way and he does the flippy sell.

HOT TAG! Hogan unloads with a series of big rights and then a big corner closeline, Hogan then hits a vertical suplex, Hogan then floors Andre with a single closeline. Hogan locks Ted in the Sleeper as Savage goes for the Picture Perfect Elbow Drop but Andre gets the boot up and Savage crashes and burns to the outside. Andre hits three big head butts to the back of the head and Hogan falls to the outside. Jesse starts a count out but all the managers get on the apron. Jesse tries to get Liz to come off the apron but Liz removes her skirt to distrac the heels. Savage hits the big axe handle on Andre sending him to the outside. Hulk gives Ted a body slam and Savage hits the Picture Perfect Elbow Drop and Hogan follows right up with the Leg Drop of Doom for the 1-2-Jesse hesitates and Randy slams his hand down for the third count.

Well not a match classic but a really good feel good main events with some great moments especially Andre's counter of the elbow drop. The finish with Elizabeth was a nice touch as they built up Liz as their secret weapon before the match. Fun main event. (***)

Overall thoughts: Well the feel good main event definitely saved the show from the crowds point of view but as a DVD this was a really low quality PPV. The were a couple of Okay and fun matches on the lower card but aside from the Warrior title win this show wasn't really historic in anyway other than being the first Summerslam. Bad Show. (3/10)
