WWE World Tag Team Title TLC Match
The Dudley Boyz vs. Edge & Christian vs. The Hardy Boyz
Wrestlemania X-7 2001
Big brawl to start. The Dudleyz get a double flapjack on Christian. The Hardyz whip both Dudleyz into the corner and give them the poetry in motion. E & C come back closelining both teams with the ladder. Matt is placed in the tree of woe and both E & C stand on his groin. Edge gives Jeff a droptoe hold into a steel chair. Slightly life less start, Edge jumps of a Chair with a flying closeline to take Matt off the ladder. Jeff torpedo dropkicks Edge off the lader. The Hardyz baseball slide the ladder into the Dudleyz. The Hardyz come off two ladders with the splash and legdrop combo on Christian. The Dudleyz clear the ring and give Edge the Wazzz up drop. Its table time. The Dudleyz set up two tables in the ring. They lay Edge on one and set the other up in the corner. Bubba then powerbombs Jeff through Edge through the table. The Dudleys then set up the four table stack on the outside. Even though the ring is free and they had ample time to win the belts. Three ladders are set up in the ring. Bubba kills Matt with a ladder and everyone begins climbing the ladders, they brawl up top. Christian takes a monster bump to the outside, JR keeps getting Christian and Edge muddled up. But eveyone takes bumps, Ray's and Edge's were very cartoony but Christian was fantastic. Edge is going up the ladder and Spike comes from the back gives Edge the Acid Drop and then Gives Christian one to the outside through a table. Rhyno appears he kills everyone spears Ray and then Gores Matt through the table in the corner. Edge is on his way up again and Lita runs out and introduces Edge to the ladder. Rhyno is about to press slam Lita to the outside but Spike saves him with a low blow and Lita gets a Littcanranna on Rhyno. Spike then gives Rhino a chair shot and he knocks Edge of the ladder. The Dudleys give Christian a Dudley Device. Lita kills spike with a Chairshot before the Dudleyz take her out with a 3D. Spike and Rhyno are layed on a chair on the outside and Jeff gets the monster ladder adn gets the monster Swanton, although he misses the first table, not as cool as last time and I bet it hurt alot more. Edge sets up the monster ladder in the ring with the smaller two and D-Von and Christian climb the Mega ladder but Matt takes away the ladder and they dangle on the belts and fall. Jeff tries to rope three ladders but the spot is totally botched, he then reclimbs and dangles on it for no apparent reason when he could have taken the belt, but no worry we get the super Spear from Edge off the Mega Ladder to the dangling Jeff, very good visual horribly fucked up. Matt and Ray climb the ladder but Rhyno shoves the ladder over and Matt and Ray take the monster bump through the mega table stack to the outside. Edge holds D-Von and Rhyno carries Christian on his shoulders to the top of the ladder for the win.
Contrived, stupid, oft botched but fun nonetheless. (***1/4)

We then get the awkard moment with Chris Benoit explain the injuries he recieved in this match up.

WWE World Tag Team Title TLC Match
The Hardy Boyz vs. The Dudley Boyz vs. Edge & Christian vs. Jericho & Benoit
Smackdown 2001

All the teams attack Benoit and Jericho to start. The Ring is cleared leaving the Dudleyz and the Hardyz. Matt throws a ladder at Bubba in the corner, they give D-Von a poetry in motion they try it on Bubba but Ray throws the ladder at Jeff in mid air. Jericho runs everyone down with the ladder and Benoit gives Ray a snap suplex on the ladder. Jericho then whips D-Von face first into a ladder in the corner. E & C closelines Benoit with a ladder and then give Jericho a droptoe hold into a ladder. Matt powerbombs Christian off the ladder and then climbs with Edge, but Benoit shoves the ladder over and sends them into the ropes. Jericho puts Matt on a ladder on the outside and Benoit goes for the Swandive headbutt but he misses and takes a hard bump on the outside. Benoit looks to be out cold. Jericho then gives Ray a bulldogg off the top of a ladder and they look again at Benoit's dive, and Taz goes to look at Benoit who looks dead. Benoit is then stretchered out of the match. Ad Break. We return and Edge is lying flat ontop of two ladders and Jericho puts him in the walls of Jericho but Christian shoves him off. The Dudleyz comes in and shove the ladders over and Christian takes the big bump to the outside and Edge takes the groin first bump. D-von then hiptosses Matt off the top of the ladder and then Ray suplexes Jeff hard off the top of the ladder. Everyone is down and Benoit is coming back and he looks seriously hurt, its ridiculous he's out there, Edge pulls him off the ladder and Benoit just onloads with chops on both men but the numbers game takes him down quick. Benoit covers his head and E&C give him a conchairto to the ribs, nice spot. The Dudleyz then give Edge the Wazzzup drop and Ray says its Table time. The Dudleyz set up a table but Jericho comes in and cleans house with a chair but Christian comes in and kills Jericho with an absolutely brutal chair shot on Jericho. Christian puts Ray on the table and Christian sets up a table in the corner but D-Von intercepts and give him a super 3D off the top of the ladder. The Hardyz pull Bubba to the outside and Matt kills Bubba with a brutal moniter shot. Then another killer chair shot to Ray who is on the announce table, and Jeff delivers a leap frog legdrop of the little Ladder over the top of the super ladder through the announce table, now that was a cool spot. Matt and D-Von are climbing in the ring and Matt gives D-Von a beautiful twist of fate off the ladder, superb execution. Matt Hardy is about to win but Jericho shoves him off the ladder and over the top rope. In a rather sillily set up spot Edge spears Jericho from One ladder to another. Benoit is back up and he's actually climbing the ladder and he just about manages to win the belt in incredible pain.
Well that was much better than wrestlemania, the excution was a lot better and more realistic despite one silly spot. Its hard watching the chair shots knowing what we know now after Benoit's death. Benoit's effort was incredible considering his injuries. This was very dramatic, it may have only had one mega spot but it told a really nice story and had alot of well executed smaller spots. WWE Intercontinental Title Ladder Match
Edge vs. Christian
No Mercy 2001
Edge and Christian brawl on the outside, Edge introduces Christian to the barracade. Edge kicks Christian around the ring, Christian dodges Edge slides to the apron giving Edge a jaw jacker. Edge baseball slides the ladder into Christian. Uninspired start. Edge and Christian brawl into the crowd the brawl around a bit before Edge back body drops Christian back to ringside. Edge throws Christian into the ladder he then hits a sloppy catapult into the ladder. Edge bridges the ladder accross the steps and barracade and Christian flapjacks Edge into the ladder. They brawl on the ladder bridge and in a nice spot Edge punches Christian the loses his footing and Christian crotches himself on the ladder rung. Christian climbs for the belt but Edge shoves it over but Christian lands on his feet and nails Edge with a closeline. Edge rams edge in the corner with the ladder. Christian tries to nail Edge with a chair shot but Edge counters into a criss cross bomb onto the ladder. Edge then shove Christian crotch first off his shoulder onto the ladder. Edge sets the ladder in the corner but Christian reverse the whip and Edge goes rib first into it. Christian follows up with the diving reverse shoulderbreaker. Christian then catapults Edge from under the ladder face first into it. Slowly Christian sets up the ladder and climbs Edge sets up a ladder next to him and meets him at top the ladder and gives him an Edge-o-Matic off the top of the ladder, nice, bet that hurt Edge. Same set up again but this time its Christian's turn to hit the diving reverse DDT off the ladder. Christian slowly gets the chairs but Edge kicks him off. Edge gets a third ladder and creates a ladder table out of two chairs and a ladder. He puts Christian on it and pounds Christian. Edge scores with a cagey looking big splash onto the ladder, ouch. Edge climbs the ladder but Christian hits him with the ladder and Edge takes a nice bump from the top of the ladder. Christian climbs the ladder and Edge hits the super spear from the top rope to Christian on the ladder, I've seen that spot three times in a row now, but its still a nice move. Edge and Christian both climb the ladder furthest away from the belt and as they brawl the ladder falls over and both men bump to the outside. Christian crawls in under the ropes and Christian is trying to climb the ladder but he's really struggling but Edge recovers low blowing Christian with a chair he then sets Christian atop the the two ladders, Edge then climbs the third ladder and gives Christian the one man Conchairto atop the ladder, brilliant spot, and Edge wins the belt.
Not exactly a classic, they were really trying to sell how brutal the match was and they did a very good job. It was plodding and slow but told a good story, with a couple of inventive spots, but was rather forgetable, the finish however was superb and one to remember. (**3/4)
WWE Intercontinental Title Ladder Match

RVD then front suplexes Eddie onto the barracade and gives him the spinning heel kick to the back, the crowd are hugely into this one. Eddie whips RVD into the ladder and RVD takes an absolutely sicken bump into the ladder breaking it in one go, OUCH! Eddie scores with a snap suplex on the outside and then throws the ladder on top of him. Back in the ring and Eddie scores with a running back elbow, and the crowd are all over Eddie. Eddie lays in some elbows to the back of the head, big "Eddie sucks" chant. Eddie works over RVD's knee on the ringpost and then grabs a chair. Eddie smashes the chair against RVD knee and the ringpost. Eddie then scores with a lovely back suplex and then unloads with a flurry of fists in the corner. RVD comes back with a weak monkey flip, but Eddie comes back and drills him with a perfect powerbomb. Eddie then tries to bring in a ladder but eats a slightly botched baseball slide but he recovers with a nice Asai Moonsault onto Eddie and the ladder. Benoit comes to the front row using at ticket as we go to an Ad Break. Eddie then kills RVD with the ladder. Eddie sets up the ladder in the centre of the ring it looks pretty ropey, but RVD comes off the top rope with a torpedo dropkick absolutely smashing the ladder out from under Eddie who takes a nice bump. RVD gives Eddie a tilt-a-whirl back breaker onto the ladder and then follows it up with the rolling thunder. Both men climb the ladder and they brawl at the top and Eddie keeps smashing RVD's face into the top of the ladder before scoring with an unbelievably crisp sunset bomb off the top of the ladder. The cameras then totally miss a spot I think the ladder buckled from under Eddie. Eddie sorts it out and scores with an absolutely brutal Helo from the top of the ladder, Eddie killed RVD with that. Eddie is in exceptional form. Eddie then nails RVD's back and knee with a steel chair. Eddie tries to ram RVD face first into the chair but RVD blocks and sends Eddie into it, RVD follows up with a running chair assisted corner dropkick, a spinning legdrop and a split legged moonsault with the chair. Eddie however pulls RVD off the ladder and then suplexes RVD hard into the ladder. Eddie sets the ladder up in the corner but RVD ends up whipping him into it. RVD tries the Monkey flip again but Eddie counters an puts him on top, RVD tries a Van Daminator but misses and Eddie runs into a monkey flip into the ladder. RVD then scores with a rolling thunder this time with the ladder ontop on Guerrero. Eddie comes back with a dropkick to the back of the leg, but RVD springs up and scores with a Van Daminator, RVD goes for a Five Star Frogsplash but the ladder buckles and RVD crashes and burns hard to the floor. Eddie goes up top but RVD pops up and kicks him off top and into the guard rail allowing RVD to win the match.
Well that was an excellent match you could really tell the difference between the spot monkey RVD and the superb wrestler Eddie Guerrero. RVD botched alot of moves including being rushed and sloppy and blowing the finish but it matter little because the bulk of the match was so superb and crisp. Eddie was absolute class, crisp, and his timing was absolutely perfect throughout. Shame they had two such crappy ladders nearly ruined the matchup. Luckily it didn't (****)
WWE World Title Ladder Match

Taker then hits Jeff with the ladder and sends him flying into the announce table. Taker has the match totally won but refuses to win the belt he instead press slams Jeff into the announce table. Taker throws Jeff over the time keepers table and then jabs him in the gut with a chair. Back in the ring Taker lays the ladder on the canvas and in an awkward spot rams Jeff's face into the ladder. Jeff starts throwing some girly if legitametly hard shots on Taker but Taker floors him with one slug. Taker lays Jeff on the apron inbetween the ladder and delivers a brutal leg drop closing the ladder on Jeff's head. Taker scores with a corner closeline and sets up a ladder in the corner he then throws Jeff into it. Taker tries a blind charge but eats ladder. Taker tries an irish whip but is met with a whisper in the wind. Taker comes right back big booting Jeff straight out of the ring. Taker says its over and Jeff boots him right in the wang and uses the ladder to hit a springboard front flip plancha. Jeff gets the big ladder not the Mega ladder but its still pretty big. Taker tries to take him off the with a Last Ride but Taker counters into a mega sloppy ranna to the outside, Jeff races up the ladder but Taker catches him with a chair shot. Taker tries the Last Ride again, he blocks the Ranna this time but Hardy picks up and ladder on the way an nails Taker, he follows it up with a sickeningly brutal chair shot. Hardy climbs the ladder he has his fingers on the ladder but Taker gives him a choke slam off the top of the ladder and wins the gold. Post Match: Taker is about to ride off but sees Jeff getting up so he gives Jeff a Last Ride, Taker gets to the top of the ramp and Jeff gets on the mike and says he's still standing, Taker returns to the ring feints punching him and instead pats him on the head and raises his hand, respect earned, Jeff then falls to the floor.
Back when Jeff's career was in peices this was probably his finest hour, unfortunately for us he's back, well I'm sure some of you like him. This match wasn't a million miles an hour or particularly spectacular but it did what wrestling should do, it told a damn good story. (**3/4)

Kane climbs the ladder and wins the belt alone.
I remember at the time that match wasn't particularly highly rated, but watching it back to back with the over matches it really seems to have slipped under the radar probably because it was on RAW, but that was an insanely fun fast paced spotfest. It was a bit indy in style, but it seemed alot more organic and fresh than past efforts, and there were very few of the obvious set up spots. Fun stuff with a nice story about Kane going it alone. Christian sets the ladder up in the ring and climbs for the gold. Christian nearly has it when Jericho grabs his leg. Cage then throws Jericho into the ladder. Christian sets the ladder on top and Jericho reverses a whip sending Cage hard face first into the ladder. Y2J throws the ladder into Cage's shoulder. They have a pussy slugfest and a general awkward exchange that ends with Y2J going face first into the ladder. Christian sets the ladder up on the middle ropes and catapults Y2J into the ladder. Cage sets the ladder up on Jericho but when he charges Jericho throws the ladder hard at his face. Jericho goes up top and does the Shawn Micheals ladder rider down onto Christian. Cage makes his way up the ladder but Jericho catches him and takes the ladder away, Cage is dangling above the ring and Jericho throws the ladder at him and Christian takes a really nice face first bump down to the canvas, great sell. Jericho sets the ladder up ontop of Christian but Cage escapes and tilts the ladder forward but it looks like Jericho botches the fall and lands inside the ring and rolls out. Cage again is nearly there when Jericho catches him an puts him in a pretty sloppy Walls of Jericho and Christian falls but he takes the ladder out before Jericho can win and Y2J takes a horror bump falling back first on the ladder. Cage gets the big ladder and begins to climb. Y2J climbs the smaller ladder Jericho takes ages and Cage has to weight they do a terrible spot using the belt and then they both kinda bulldogg each other to the floor, that was ugly. Jericho climbs back up and wins.
There were some good moments, but hardly anything original and they botched so much, including the finish twice. This match goes to show that these two are one level below top workers like Eddie Guerrero. Not bad but not specail either. (**3/4)
Overall Thoughts: You can't really complain there are no bad matches on there and a couple of really good ones. The thing is, and this is the lesson that promoters should learn, is that watching eight ladder matches is tiring and the gimmick matches blur into one and lose meaning when there from out there too often and not treated as specail. TNA really should learn this lesson, quickly. Still good DVD plenty to enjoy.
Overall Star Rating: ***1/4
