Kane and Benoit battle atop the ladder and a flurry of headbutts send Kane to the canvas. Edge comes out of nowhere and nails Benoit in his injured arm with a chair and sneaks up the ladder for the win.
Really good little match up, certainly re-established what had become a tired gimmick in the ladder match. This was fast fresh an creative, with some truely memorable visuals. The match was nicely polished and fast paced, the ending felt a little anti-climatic but it was the first step in establishing Edge as the ultimate oppurtunist. Fun stuff but like many ladder matches accept from the great Shelton moment this would become very interchangable with the money in the banks and ladder matches to come. Nevertheless a great first step in establish a great Wrestlemania tradition. (***3/4)

Ladder Match For The Custody Of Dominic
Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero
Summerslam 2005
Once upon a time this would be a five star match, Eddie hasn't slowed down much he's adapted his style, I wonder whose not the man he once was hmmn.... Eddie knees Rey in the gut to start and introduces him to the turnbuckle. Eddie then scores with a backsuplex on Rey. Rey comes back with a monkey flip and Eddie bails to the outside and introduces Rey Rey to the ring steps. Eddie then decides it'd be rude not to introduce Rey into the ladder, you wouldn't want him to feel left out would you? Eddie is climbing the ladder and Rey knocks him off with a spring board drop kick send Eddie down. Eddie brings in the second ladder in awkward fashion, Eddie is then tossed and Rey baseball slides the ladder into Eddie. Rey then gets a springboard seated senton over the ladder Eddie's holding and right into his face, that was nice. Rey climbs the ladder but Eddie joins him and they brawl at the top, Eddie is about to get the briefcase but Rey stops him and then Eddie goes for the sunset bomb but its half botched because Rey is so small but it looks passable. Eddie now lays into Rey with the ladder. Eddie then dropkicks a ladder into Rey. Eddie then body slams Rey onto a ladder and sets another ladder ontop of him and he hits the slingshot helo. Taz says "As much as that hurt Rey Mysterio I think it hurt Dominic even more", GAY! Eddie throws another ladder on Rey in the corner. He climbs the other ladder in the centre of the ring. Rey lays the other ladder on the main ladder and crawls up to meet Eddie and then in one of the ugliest looking spots imaginable Rey back body drops Rey off the ladder onto the other ladder but that cause the main ladder to buckle and Rey lands back first on the main ladder, OUCH all round. Rey tries to climb the ladder but Eddie dropkicks it over straight away. Eddie sets up a ladder on the top rope, Rey tries a roll up ranna but Eddie counters falling back sending Rey hard into the ladder. Eddie climbs the ladder but Dominic comes into the ring and shakes the ladder, he can't tip it over and Eddie tells him no and climbs down and starts chewing the kid out and demands a hug. "I'm your daddy now get used to it essay" man Mexican soap opera rocks! Rey attacks Eddie gives him a back body drop. Rey then sends Eddie hard into the ladder and he 6-1-9s the ladder into the ladder and he then Drops the Dime on the ladder onto Eddie, good stuff. Rey goes for the case but Eddie catches him and tries to electric chair drop him off the ladder but Rey spins and counters into a sunset bomb. Rey climbs up the ladder and just as he's got the case Eddie kicks out the ladder and Rey is dangling and he catches Rey as he falls and scores with a powerbomb as the crowd chant "Eddie, Eddie". Eddie pins Rey under the ladder and climbs, Eddie start mocking Rey instead of getting the case Eddie can't unhook the case but Rey manages to remove the ladder and this time its Eddie's turn to hang and Rey pulls him down leg first. Eddie recovers and gives Rey the three amigos with the last one landing on the ladder, good stuff. Eddie is about to win when Vickie Guerrero runs down and shoves over the ladder sending Eddie to the floor. Rey goes up the ladder and Vickie pulls her husband back and Rey wins the match. Post match Rey whacks Eddie with the briefcase for good meassure.
Well the soap opera was pretty silly but it was very dramatic. They blew a couple of spots and Rey seemed pretty awkward in the match but on the whole it was very well executed and Eddie Guerrero played both his storyline and wrestling role superbly. Removed from the intial silliness of the time I really liked this match on a second viewing as overblown and silly as it was. (****)
Loser Leaves Raw Ladder Match
Matt Hardy vs. Edge
Raw 2005
Edge sneak attacks Matt during his entrance and sprints to the ring and tries to steal victory but Matt pulls him down and gives him a side effect. Matt puts the ladder upside down and puts Edge in it, he gives him a legdrop and then a ladder scissors. Matt whips Edge into the ladder but Edge recovers and droptoe holds Matt into the ladder. Edge then leans the ladder in the corner and suplexes Matt hard into the ladder. Lighting start. Edge comes off the ladder with a double axe handle on Matt. He tries to flapjack Matt into the ladder but Matt lands on his feet and scampers up and nearly wins. Edge blocks a twist of Fate and shoves Matt off and he goes face first into the ladder. This is a really great start. Edge climbs the ladder now but Hardy pulls him down and spears him in the gut with the ladder. Edge blocks and suplex and gives Matt a front suplex onto the ladder. Edge again climbs the ladder Matt catches him at the top and throw Edge off top into the ladder balance on the top rope which goes flying and Edge bounces back into the ladder sending Matt flying, great spot as we go to an Ad Break. Matt blocks being suplexed trhough a table and then knocks Edge into the crowd with a ladder he then dives off the top of the ladder into the crowd to swat down Edge. Lita stops Matt getting back in the ring so Matt tries to powerbomb her through the table but Edge breaks it up with the Kendo stick. Edge the big splashes Matt from the apron through the table. Edge now back in the ring climbs the ladder but Matt recovers and climbs the ladder next to him and gives him a nice twist of fate off the ladder and Edge goes flying to the outside. Matt goes for the briefcase but Lita nails him with the kendo stick, Matt falls but blocks her next attempt and shoves her down. Matt climbs the ladder and has the briefcase but Lita takes away the ladder. Edge swings Matt while he dangles and he falls hard into the ropes where he gets tied up, Lita scissors his arms and legs so he can't escapes and Edge gets the belt.
Well brilliant fast paced and good drama with Lita and Edge. About as good as a TV Main Event gets. (***1/2)
WWE World Title TLC Match
Ric Flair vs. Edge
Raw 2006
They lock up and Flair unloads with six chops then its straight into the Flair flurry, but Edge slugs him down. Edge brings a chair and ladder. Edge floors Flair with the ladder, he then sandwiches Flair in the ladder and nails it with the chair. Edge then distainfully kicks Flair out of the ring but Flair starts unloading with chops even choping Edge into the crowd. Edge then backbody drops Flair into ringside and then suplexes Flair on the outside. Edge sets up and table and a chair, he puts Flair ontop and goes for the Conchairto but Flair gets the groin claw and shoves him off into the guard rail. Lita jumps all over Flair but Flair flips her over. When he turns he gets nailed with a big chair shot and cue a patternted Flair monster blade job. Lita holds Flair on the table and Edge jumps off a ladder in the ring to outside through a table, man that was a nice spot. Ad Break. Flair is up in the ring as they replay the big spot, Flair low blows Edge blatantly in the ring, Flair's blade job is monsterous. Flair sandwiches Edge in the ladder and nails him with the chair. He then invites Lita into the ring and she's none to clean. Ric then levels Edge with the steel chair. Flair then throws the ladder onto Edge and then batters it with the chair into the knee. Flair sets up the ladder and puts it in the corner, Flair chops down Edge, Climbs the top rope and then the ladder, Edge catches him ontop and Edge then suplexes him off the top of the ladder, Holy Shit can't believe Flair took that at his age, Flair's arched back sell never seemed mor appropriate. Edge now begins work on Flair's leg, Edge climbs the and goes for a missile dropkick but Flair avoids it and gives us a Flair flop and both men are down. Edge grabs a chair and hammers Ric down. Edge climbs the ladder but Flair recovers and tips the ladder over and Edge takes a super dangerous looking backward bump through a table at ring side. Ric climbs the ladder but you can see he's in agony but Lita comes in and floors Flair but Ric recovers and puts her int he figure four leglock. Edge is still down and out and Flair again starts to climb the ladder slowly. Edge recovers and stops him and they brawl atop the ladder and Edge slugs down Flair for the win. Post Match: Edge spears Flair and goes for a Conchairto but John Cena comes to the rescue.
Well not a pretty match but and absolutely brutal emotional slug. Some great spots, seeing Ric suplexed off the ladder in his late fifties is a sight I'll never forget. The Bladejob was amazing and the chair shots were brutal, of course there were awkward moments but it felt organic in the match. Brutal, Ugly but dramatic stuff. (***)
WWE World Title TLC Match
John Cena vs. Edge
Unforgiven 2006
Some guys got a "Cena Fears Workrate", there's a lot to critize Cena for but ringwork is harsh, he's critized too much for it, he's cartoony but he delivers good mainevents with a variety of opponents. His horrible acting, jokes and facial expressions should bear the brunt.
Cena runs down Edge with three shoulder blocks to a chorus of boos before running into a giant bitch slap, huge cheers, bwhahahahaha this is great. Cena tackles and pounds down Edge who recovers and scores with a swinging neckbreaker. Edge misses with a chair shot and Cena scores with a loose release fisherman's suplex, Edge comes right back with an Impaler to big cheers, ah man its so good to hear Edge cheered. Edge tries to suplex Cena through a chair table but Cena counters Edge floats over and gives Cena a diving reverse DDT through two chairs. Edge sets up a ladder, JR calls the ladder a "table" but then corrects himself to an "erh...chair" god, and he's still the best announcer by a mile, that's how much you suck Cole. Hell if it were Cole we'd just have dead air. Edge puts Cena on the middle rope, then goes out of the ring and throws a ladder into Cena's face, he then gets up on the barracade and dropkicks the ladder into John Cena's face. Cena avoids a ladder shot and throws his Popeye punches before scoring with a hip toss onto the ladder. A small "Fuck You Cena" chant. Cena tries to FU Edge out of the ring but Edge floats over to the apron. Cena charges but is met with a elbow. Cena crotches Edge on the top rope and grabs a table. He sets up the table and looks for a superplex but Edge blocks and goes for a sunset powerbomb but Cena holds on and it looks totally fucked up. Lawler does a really good job on commentary of explaining the botch. They call an audible and Edge powerslam's Cena through a the table and Cena bails to the outside. Edge the runs up a ladder leant against the turnbuckle and scores with a diving press to the outside ontop of Cena, clever spot. Edge looks demented and nails Cena in the knee with the steel chair and its Conchairto but Cena rolls and kicks Edge's legs out. Cena then gives Edge the throwback onto the steel chair. "You Can't Wrestle" chant. Cena then slams the ladder shut on Edge and puts Edge in the STFU in the ladder and pulls the silly cartoon faces and Edge taps. Cena then runs Edge over with the ladder. Cena then FUs the ladder onto the Edge. Cena then gives Edge the protoplex and its five knuckle shuffle time except he does it from the top of the ladder, that was nicely done. Cena sets up a table but while he does Edge grabs a chair and absolutely brutalizes Cena and then does the cocky face, EDGE RULES!!! He lays Cena on the table and gets another table which he sets up ontop of Cena and he goes up top. Cena pops up and slugs Edge out of the ring and an into the barracade. Cena then fetches the big ladder, the sixteen footer. Cena climbs up and Edge comes up the smaller ladder with the Spear, Edge did his bit but Cena really could have got a few rungs higher to make it look really cool. Edge tries a crossbody off the ladder but Cena catches him and goes for an FU but Edge escapes by scrambling up the ladder. Cena pulls Edge off the big ladder and powerbombs him through the little ladder. Cena hits Edge with a total pussy chair shot on the outside. Cena is about to win when Lita comes from the back and tips the ladder over sending Cena backwards out of the ring through a table. Edge is nearly at the belt and Cena is down at the foot of the ladder Lita nails Cena with a chair but it sends Cena into the ladder and Edge goes flying off the big ladder out of the ring through a table. Cena then gives Lita an FU to his one big cheer of the night. Cena stacks two tables and can't decide whether to hurt Edge or win the title, the indecision allows Edge to recover and they meet at the top of the ladder. They battle but Cena wins and he gives Edge the monster FU through two tables, in your huge spot for the win.
Well that match had its sloppy moments but it was throughly excellent, Edge was an absolutely pro and Cena did what he did does best, he brought emotion and the big fight feel. It's those factors that take it to the next level it felt momumental and big, the crowd really helped the match making Edge the hometown hero. It had the big spots and the big story, great match, Cena sucks but he doesn't suck in main events. (****1/2)
WWE Intercontinental Title Ladder Match
Jeff Hardy vs. Johnny Nitro
Raw 2006
This will be an interesting one, I've seen this match before but wasn't really paying attention, I'm no Hardy fan, I general hate his in ring work, but in the Taker ladder match he did a good job of playing the underdog and being basically beaten senseless for 15 minutes, hear he'll have to carry more of th action and help and promising Nitro.
They exhange blows, Nitro hits one awful uppercut, but his second is better. Jeff brawls out of the corner and slugs down Nitro. Jeff then scores with the Whisper in the Wind, he hits it nicely for a change. Nitro comes right back slugging down Jeff and scores with a sitout frontback suplex. Nitro goes for the ladder but Jeff planchas onto Nitro and the ladder. Ad Break. Jeff is climbing the ladder but Nitro dives in and shoves the ladder over sending Jeffery into the ropes. Jeff comes back shoving Nitro into the ladder. Jeff goes for the leap frog leg drop but Nitro catches him up top and goes for a suplex off the ladder but Jeff shoves him off, Jeff tries it again but in an awkward spot Nitro shoves the ladder and Hardy crotches himself. Jeff then torpedo dropkicks the ladder into Nitro into a really nice spot. Nitro slugs down Hardy and tries a catapult but Hardy lands on the ladder and goes for the belt. Nitro joins him and they brawl at the top of the ladder, and then in an interesting spot Nitro scores with a standing dropkick on the very top of the ladder, that was pretty interesting. Nitro then flicks the ladder into Jeffs face, hmmn...lame. Jeff pulls Nitro off the ladder by his hair and then scoop slams Nitro onto the ladder, he goes for the Swanton but misses and eats the ladder, that was pretty brutal. Nitro throws the ladder at Jeff and it hits hard and lands around Hardy's neck so Nitro dropkicks him over. Nitro sets the ladder up on the middle rope and then whips Jeff back first into the ladder. Nitro then does a treble job of ramming the big ladder into Jeff, he pretty much misses right on camera. Nitro tries an irish whip and its reversed and he goes straight through the twelve foot ladder. They both climb the six foot ladder and Jeff gets the sunset bomb of the ladder, Nitro did a really nice sell. Jeff then scores with the leap frog leg drop that really killed his arse. He then pins Nitro under the ladder and climbs up and wins the belt.
That wasn't as boring as I remember, a few poorly executed moments but they didn't effect the match up too match. It started well but settled into a spotfest style match by the end. The finish was a nice touch and it nice to see Jeff selling in a ladder match. Fine TV Ladder Match. (***)
WWE Tag Team Title Ladder Match
MNM vs. London & Kendrick vs. Regal & Taylor vs. The Hardy Boyz
Armeddegon 2006
God this reminds me how much I miss JBL's commentary. Big brawl to start as they trim the numbers in the ring. Its down to the Hardyz and L & C its a big brawl, Matt hiptosses Kendrick London rannas Jeff. Jeff comes back with a jaw breaker and the Hardyz do there wheel barrow suplex on Kendrick. Everyone comes back in and its brawling everywhere. Regal gives London a wonderful sambo suplex, he then gives Kendrick one for good meassure. The Hardyz try to bring in the ladders but Regal and Taylor keep trying to keep them out until Matt sneaks in and sloppily floors both men. Its some tame tame brawling going on. The Hardyz get poetry on motion on Taylor. Kendrick and London give Taylor a double superkick and Matt gives Taylor a flying elbow drop. Jeff irish whips Kendrick and Matt throws the ladder at him. Kendrick gets an enzenguri on Matt and Jeff gives him a basement dropkick. London gives Matt an atomic drop and then dropkicks Jeff off the ladder. London jumps off the ladder to a avoid a springboard dropkick from Nitro who crashes and burns. Mercury is ontop of the ladder and four people lift the ladder and dump it him out of the ring on Nitro. Jeff gets a plancha, and London gets a Yakuza kick on Taylor. The Hardyz clear the ring. God its sloppy shit, great stuff, sloppy shit. Jeff misses poetry in motion and eats the ladder right in the face. London gets a running crescent kick. Kendrick and London then give Matt a double suplex. Matt levels London with a closeline. Kendrick nearly gets the gold when Matt pulls him off hard. Nitro suplexes Regal on the outside. London blocks a suplex an dropkicks Matt onto a ladder leant on the ropes, Kendrick then comes off top with the double stop on the ladder. MNM trash Kendrick and London and then rather cynically set up the see saw. They try to super plex Jeff onto it, Matt makes the save and Jeff leaps and does the See Saw spot and then we get to see Joey Mercury's face RIPPED TO SHREDS. He lost thirty percent of his vision in that eye. London suplexes Matt of the ladder. Regal and Taylor clear the ring. They then press Kendrick onto the ladder and toss him off in a lame spot, they make up for it when Regal does a BRUTAL half nelson suplex onto the ladder, that was sick. Taylor holds the ladder but Regal is too scared to climb all the way to the top, so Taylor has to do it but Kendrick manages to stop him. Matt gives Taylor a neckbreaker. Its all gone a bit sloppy and indy, well even more indy. Mercury's blood is all over the ring. Matt gives Taylor and Regal twist of fates and sets them both up, Jeff gets the monster ladder and sets it up outside the ring he goes for the Swanton and Nitro comes flying out of no where dropkicks the ladder and Jeff crash and burns into the ring ropes, Brilliant spot. Nitro throws the ladder at Matt, he then gets a terrible ladder shot on Taylor. Nitro then gives Regal a a ladder rider. Nitro goes for the gold but Kendrick stops him but Nitro swats him but he can't stop London's torpedo dropkick taking him off the ladder. Matt hiptosses Kendrick off the top of the ladder. Matt then back body dropped London off the ladder but it buckles and Matt falls. Jeff climbs the ladder, Nitro meets him and Jeff gives him the sunset bomb off the ladder. Matt sets up two ladders and climbs them, but Regal and Taylor split them and then misses with the double ladder shot, weak spot. They give Matt the Big Boot samoan drop combo. Taylor closelines Kendrick and then London closelines Taylor out of the ring, Spanky then botches a Sliced Breat No.2 but no one can blame him and it looked pretty devasting. London then battles Matt atop the ladder and wins the gold.
Well that finish was pretty lame, a total clusterfuck, full of botches, awkward moments and lame spots, but equally filled with creative and incredible moments. The injury to Mercury was sick, and that always seemed likely with that move. It should show that you can do impressive ladder matches without doing anything that dangerous. On the second replay that Sliced bread was badly botched and ill thought out, but was still a decent spectacle. It was definitely an exciting match but it then kind of match that you going "wow, sigh, ooh, ouch, sigh, fuck poor guy, sigh, haha, sigh, wow, boy they fucked that up" and only had two really memorable moments, the Hardy bumb was really cool and the Mercury one is only remembered because it went so badly wrong if it had gone to plan we'd have forgotten it with the other ten million see saw spots. (***1/2)
Final Thoughs: Really strong conclusion to the DVD, this disk really didn't drag like the second, or start slow like the first, good stuff, and a nice DVD package that will appeal to alot of people.
