So it's approaching the end of the year, and not just any year, 2009, the end of a decade and I have a lot of fun lists, awards and articles planned to celebrate. Obviously we have the greatest single of the decade countdown which will be starting very soon indeed. However for now I'm here to talk about the music awards and one in particular: The Hall Of Fame.
Yes I am actually being that pretentious. Aside from the usual awards that you can expect to see around christmas time (album of the year, man of the year, woman of the year, etc...) I'm going to be inducting five artists into Daveportivo's Hall Of Fame. Now I thought I'd make clear from the outset that this is a Rock And Roll hall of fame. Now this doesn't mean dance or hip hop will be excluded, it's more of a catch all term to define modern music. So as brilliant as they are there will be no Elgar and no Bach in my hall of fame, well not just yet anyway. This is post Buddy Holly, Little Richard, era music.
Each entrant will join my hall of fame under a different premise (Classic Songwritter, Inovator, Icon, Spirit of Independence, etc...), I will also dedicate a week of coverage to there work, including daily top tens, album reviews, and of course their official entry into the Hall Of Fame. So why am I telling you all this? Because it starts this week...and you may accuse the first entry of being rather predictable, but it couldn't be more timely. I'll let you figure it out but I'm sure today's daily top ten, and video game review will give it away.
Fear not readers, this will not become a one way street, there will be other reviews and random entries. A District 9 review and I promise that after sitting on it for almost a month I will finally review the Blueprint 3. So anyway lets enjoy the festivities!
