Chris Jericho & Big Show defeat Legacy to Retain the World Tag Titles:

While the surprise factor kept this match intriguing it was a horrible choice for opener, two sets of heels, Jericho and Big Show getting cheers, but generally killing the crowd. As for the surprise Big Show is the most logical choice, I was really hoping for Miz but this gives Big Show something to do that doesn't involve killing Kofi and Evan. Match wise there's not much to say rather bland. Forgettable opener (*1/4)

Christian defeats Tommy Dreamer to win the ECW Title:
Well I guess Philidelphia forgot about Tommy Dreamer already, well actually did more than a couple of thousand know about ECW anyway? Regardless this match was painful to watch. Christian used his computer game offence looking like he was running through a routine and Tommy Dreamer moved at glacial pace. Good effort uninteresting results. (*1/4)

Kofi Kingston retains the US Title in a Six Pack Challenge:
Now this should have been the show opener. It wasn't a classic, but it was a bunch of spots and moves, but the action was fast, the crowd were into the characters and considering the number of men in the ring it was pretty crisp and botch free. An Action packed eight minutes. (**1/4)

Michelle McCool defeats Melina for the Women's Title:
Good Women's match, I wasn't expecting much out of these two, and they didn't deliver all that much either, but it was a well plotted out match with some well designed spots, which they executed competantly. Good. (*3/4)

Randy Orton defeats Triple H & John Cena for the World Title:
Well as far as finishes that don't make sense go this was postively Russo-esque. Orton taps out but both man are applying holds at once so the refer is confused and allows the match to continue and Legacy to run in. Well at least Jerry Lawler sold how confusing the rules were all match. This was a very good fun little triple threat match, these three always work better in three ways than they do individual. A combination of well planned out spots and some excellent selling work from Orton. Cena hideously botched his leg drop move again! Inventive, fun, well played. (***3/4)

Mickie James defeats Maryse to win the WWE Diva's Title:
Wow if anyone didn't realize just how bad Maryse is as a wrestler you now know. Maryse plays her character brilliantly, and conveys her personality well in the match, but she is clunky as hell. Mickie did her best to create movement and excitement but Mickie is a little clunky too, not a good pairing. I recommend throwing Gail Kim into the mix. Clunky as all hell and fell flat. (*1/4)

Rey Mysterio defeats Dolph Ziggler to retain the US title:
Dolph Ziggler has something, I'm not sure what it is, but even his chinlocks look good. The problem is, aside from chinlocks he doesn't have all that much. Rey vs. Jericho was awesome and deserved fifteen minutes because its two pros helping each other, Dolph isn't ready for this lenght of match and Rey isn't good enough in 2009 to carry him. Too long but not terrible (*)

Jeff Hardy defeats CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Title:
I have to admit I wasn't really paying attention to this match, it looked pretty good and the finishing sequence was pretty exciting. I'll have to rewatch this match but I give it a provisional (***1/2)

Overall Thoughts: Compared to Victory Road this was an amazing show but compared to your standard WWE show it was okay, pretty much what you'd expect, perhaps lacking a really good undercard match now Rey and Jericho are seperated. If you didn't see the Bash and Extreme Rules and wanted a WWE PPV this one is satisfying and news worthy but if your on the fence, it's entirely skippable. (6.5/10)

About this blog

This is your one stop shop of pop culture reviews I most specialize in Music, Politics & Film. I occasionally delve into TV reviews. I've got a Politics MA and a War Studies BA, I'm taking a year out before starting a Phd so when it comes to History and Politics I'm pretty well versed but I tend to keep this blog fun rather than serious.
