So far every episode has been uniformaly awful, it's tough to pick the worst, Love Blactually was horrible, repetitive and I felt like I'd seen half the jokes before but the sight of Stewie dressed as an owl telling another owl he's not interested made it just above unwatchable. Now speaking in terms of unwatchable I Dream Of Jesus was beyond horrible, it lacked the irony of South Park's I Quiff Therefore I Am which in itself was an incredibly weak episode of South Park but at least managed to address gender inequality and ludicrious media/right wing christian reactions. Regardless the episode was repetitive and lacked spark.
Baby Not On Board was completely forgetable, but that's a good thing in regards this series as it wasn't painful to watch and the basic narrative was palatable. It became quickly apparent that this series lacked the stand out jokes that you'll be quoting for weeks. The Man With Two Brian's I did enjoy, partly because I liked the contrast of the two talking dogs (a very shallow reason indeed), Seth actually showed some creativity ways in which they came up with ways for new Brian to be perfect, effectively it was the standout of the season.
Tales Of A Third Grade Nothing was absolutely abysmal, truely awful, another strong contender for the worst of the season. Frank Sinatra Jnr. has been an incredibly tepid character at best added little to an episode. While an accurate critique of scenester culture it can barely be described to be pithy. Family Gay was painful, unoriginal, uninteresting and mildy offensive but not in the intelligent jokes on you for being a bigot way of Sacha Baron Cohen's EARLY Bruno work.
The rest was equally horrible with the jokes few and far between, the genius of Conway Twitty was employed on the otherwise awful Juice Is Loose it's undoubtably the best three minutes of the entire series, which is depressing, and of course American's don't get it. Elsewhere the Brian driven episodes carry the show to an extent but even Brian is over used and hit an miss; Hit with the watchable but unispired We Love You Conrad and Miss with the awful 420 with the king of blunt, in your face, painfully unfunny songs that only Americans can find funny.
I've decided to end on a high note, the Star Trek episode, while Will Wheaton and Patrick Stewart we're together the eposide was awesome, with some predictable but none the less delightful humour at the drive through, bowling alley and on the computer. Unfortunately it wasn't the centre of the episode which was instead dedicated to Meg and religion, which they thankfully had Peter point out by daring us to change channel.
So yes amazingly Family Guy has got worse. It's even dumber, less creative, and with more lame pop culture references, and without a moral foot to stand on or any interesting satire beyond: Bush is an idiot, Bush is dumb, Repulicans are bad. We get it. South Park parodies such one dimensional approaches, family guy seems to actually think this is pithy. Unfortunately it does 8 million viewers so its unlikely to get cancelled which is a shame because last time they got cancelled they came back with fire in their bellies.
